Muslim Question
Christian Answer
God “I have heard that Christians believe in three gods. Is that true?” Christians believe in one God (1 Corinthians 8:5,6). The Bible teaches that God is three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. But He is still one God.
Jesus “God did not get married and have children by a wife. So how can Jesus be His ‘Son’?” Christians do not believe that God has a wife. “The Son of God” is a title for Jesus that reveals what He is like. (See Hebrews 1:3 and John 14:9,10.)
The Bible “I have heard that the Bible has been changed over the years and is not the same as when it was first written. Is that true?” Archaeologists have found early versions of the Bible. Their findings prove that the Bible has changed very little over the years. The different versions today are different translations or wordings with the same message. God promised to keep His word. He is stronger than anyone who might want to change it. (See Mark 13:31.)
Jesus’ death and resurrection “Muslims believe it would be disrespectful to say Jesus died on a cross. We don’t believe He died. What do you believe?” We believe Jesus died and rose again after His death. God could have helped Jesus escape death. But Jesus conquered death. That glorifies God more than if Jesus escaped death. (See 1 Corinthians 15 and Romans 6:8–10.)
Paying for sin “Christians sin and let Jesus take care of it. It isn’t fair that Jesus has to pay for someone else’s sin. Good Muslims take responsibility for their own sins. What do you think about that?” Christians must also avoid sin and take responsibility for their actions. (See Romans 6:1,2.) Christians do good works to please God, but we do not believe good works can save us. We do not believe anyone but Christ is sinless enough to please God. That is why He is the perfect sacrifice for our sins. (See Ephesians 2:8,9 and 2 Timothy 1:7–10.)
Muhammad and Jesus “We believe that Muhammad and Jesus were both just prophets. What do you think?” Muhammad helped people understand that they should worship just one God. Many men have brought messages to the world about God. Jesus is the only one who did not sin. He is the only one who can plead on our behalf on Judgment Day. (See Acts 4:12, Romans 8:31–34, and Hebrews 4:15.)
