The Voice of the Martyrs “Tricky” Balloon Launches

When Jesus told His followers to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15), He knew it would not always be easy. The governments of some countries do not want people to bring Bibles into their countries.

It is against the law in North Korea to share the gospel of Jesus. For many years, The Voice of the Martyrs has sponsored the launching of balloons that carry Scriptures into North Korea. (Watch a balloon launch in the video below.)

In the past, VOM wasn’t sure if balloons landed safely in the North Korea or if anyone read them. But now GPS devices let us know where the balloons land.

Recently, the North Korean government also let people know that the balloons are landing in their country! The North Korean government’s news service published a statement complaining about “Voice of Martyrs” and their “tricky” balloon launches.

The report said, “They are getting trickier in fixing time and locations for their scattering operation against DPRK.” (DPRK stands for “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” which is what North Koreans call their country.)

    Pray for:

  • North Koreans to come to know Christ.
  • The safety of workers who help the gospel spread in North Korea.
