Give Thanks

This year, Thanksgiving is on November 28th. We thank God for all he has provided us. But what do persecuted Christians thank God for?

Read below about Christians who thank God even when they are going through difficult times. (Enter their names in the search box if you want to know their complete stories.)

Andre lost his parents in an attack by radical Muslims. He now lives at a “safe house” for children whose family members have been attacked. Andre said, “I am thankful that I have many friends here who help me when I’m discouraged.”

Yubelina was badly burned as she ran to escape attackers in Indonesia. Some people make fun of the scars on her face. Her daughter, Febiola, said, “My mother tells me to be thankful for all that has happened to us!”

Washal, a 12-year-old Christian in Pakistan, lost his home and all his belongings in a fire set by radical Muslims. Washal said, “I was grieved that I lost my parrot, bicycle, and school bag in the fire. They were all burned. I am thankful that God has provided me with another bicycle and school bag.

“I did not go to church regularly before the incident. Now I go to Sunday school regularly. I am very happy now.”

Danny’s father was in prison in Vietnam for his Christian activities. Danny was treated badly at school because his family was a Christian. Danny said, “God is close to me. He is with me every day. I am thankful for his presence in all of our difficult times, like when my father was arrested. I was scared when the government came and surrounded our house. I prayed and had peace.”

Thank God for granting thankfulness and peace to persecuted Christians around the world.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).
