Back to School?

Chiapas

September is back-to-school month for children in Mexico and many other places. But Christian children in some parts of Mexico have been kicked out of school, even though they did not break any rules. “Traditionalists” have refused to allow some children to register for school because their parents follow Christ.

Traditionalists follow some Catholic teachings. But they mix the teachings with practices from the ancient Maya religion, which does not follow the Bible. They follow superstitious customs to try to keep away evil, or to bring “good luck.”

Download: Bold Believers in Chiapas is a great way to learn more about Christian children in one state in Mexico.
Read: Deuteronomy 18:10–11 to see what the Bible says about magic and superstitions.
