Women and Christians in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia

Some women in Muslim Saudi Arabia recently encouraged other women to drive cars. They posted their encouragement on Facebook and Twitter. As a result, police arrested two people and the government shut down a Facebook page.

The government reacted harshly because it is against the law for women in Saudi Arabia to drive. Women’s freedoms are limited in other ways as well, because the country is ruled by strict Islamic laws. In some serious court cases, a woman’s testimony is worth only half a man’s testimony.

Christians are also considered of less value in court. If a Christian is injured accidentally, he or she may be awarded half the amount of money a Muslim male would receive in the same situation.

Pray for women and Christians in Saudi Arabia.
