Uganda: Boy Refuses to Deny Christ
One day, 12-year-old Emmanuel Nyaiti went on an errand for his grandmother. Emmanuel lives in Uganda, where many people are Christians. But radical Muslims persecute Christians in some parts of the country.
No doubt Emmanuel had done chores for his family safely many times. But on this particular day he encountered four Muslim men from his village who stopped him from completing his errand.
The men knew Emmanuel came from a Christian family. Radical Muslims had already sent threatening text messages to Emmanuel’s father (shown in the photo above) telling him to become a Muslim or move out of the village. But on this day, Emmanuel was their target.
The men started by talking to Emmanuel and trying to get him to deny Jesus and become a Muslim. When he bravely refused, one of the men slapped him and tried to choke him. Then they ran away, leaving him unconscious on the ground.
Emmanuel’s father and some neighbors began searching for him when he didn’t return home. Thank God they found him and took him home. Ask God to give Emmanuel and his family wisdom and guidance as they consider how to deal with hostile villagers.
