What to Watch This Summer

Torchlighters DVDs tell animated stories of real-life Christian heroes. The DVDs also include informative, educational documentaries about the heroes and their lives and times.

A Few DVD Highlights
Eric Liddell was a famous Christian athlete who refused to compete on Sundays. (Read more here. How do you think fans would react if a football superstar refused to play in the Super Bowl because the game is played on Sunday?)

The documentary on the Torchlighters Corrie ten Boom DVD includes a demonstration inside Corrie’s house of how her “hiding place” sheltered Jewish visitors.

The Samuel Morris DVD is the true account of a young African “missionary to North America.”

Free Resources
Leader’s guides and student handouts for the DVDs are available free from the Downloads section. The leader’s guides include a synopsis of the life of the hero, lesson plans for teaching children about the featured Christian, descriptions of key people who influenced the hero, historical background about the period of history when the hero lived, and a timeline.

Student handouts include coloring pages from scenes in the DVD, numerous games and activities, craft ideas, interview suggestions, story questions, and discussion starters.

For additional free resources (posters, games, activities) check Torchlighters.org.

The Voice of the Martyrs is currently offering a 12-DVD boxed set of Torchlighters DVDs for $45. Click here for more information.
