A Treat from Azerbaijan

What you will need:

  • 4 Apricots
  • Sugar
  • Lemon Juice
  1. Peel, chop, and mash 4 apricots to make about 1 cup of fruit.
  2. Combine with ¾ cup sugar and 1 tsp. lemon juice in a saucepan.
  3. Stir over medium heat until the mixture reaches a rolling boil.
  4. Continue to stir for 3 more minutes while boiling.
  5. Cool in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  6. Eat by the teaspoonful while drinking tea.

An Uzbek Treat to Try: Sugared Almonds

  1. Bring ½ cup sugar and 1/3 cup water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Add 1 cup of almonds.
  3. Stir and cook for about 7 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Add ½ cup water and ½ tsp. butter.
  6. Stir to coat the almonds well.
  7. Spread on a plate to cool.
  8. Break off pieces to eat.
