Safer Way to Study the Bible
It’s not always easy to take Bibles into some Muslim countries, because strict Muslims do not want people to read the Bibles and become Christians. The Voice of the Martyrs provides audio Bibles on MP3 players for Christians in some of these countries. The MP3 players are easier to hide than Bibles.
Women and girls in some countries are forced by strict Muslims to be well-covered from head to toe. A Christian girl in a Muslim country who received an MP3 player from VOM recently told VOM contacts about a good use for her head covering.
The girl said, “I was afraid before to read the Bible even in the [bathroom].” She was afraid her Muslim brothers or her parents would catch her.
“It could be terrible if they did catch me reading the Bible,” the girl said. “Now I can listen to the Bible anywhere, anytime! I put it under my [head covering] which I wear and no one can see what I’m doing. I am so happy for this idea.”
In some places, youth from Muslim families are kicked out of their homes if they become Christians. Pray that entire families will come to Christ and serve him together.
To Think About
When did you last read your Bible? Did you have to hide from anyone when you read it? Why do you think some youth are willing to risk persecution to learn more from the Bible? The next time you read your Bible, try to imagine what the verses might mean to someone who is just learning God’s Word for the first time.
